TESCO TO INCREASE PAY TO £9/HR

June 11, 2019

In September, Tesco will improve minimum hourly pay from £8.42 (currently one of the lowest rates among UK supermarkets) to £9 an hour. This finally brings pay in line with the Voluntary Living Wage for most of the country, although it will still fall short in London.

The increase comes amid pressure from equal pay action groups and more competitive pay from German supermarket chains like Lidl.

It’s not all positive news, as Tesco will be withdrawing its bonus scheme.
